Maverick

Based on the western TV series and its movie adaptation, Maverick was Data East’s entry in the tradition of poker-themed pinball machines and a collaborative effort by their entire design team. Precise shooting is rewarded as players are tasked to shoot specific banks of drop targets or standup targets without hitting incorrect shots, with the potential for massive scoring if the player can keep their winning streak alive. The machine also features a model of the Lauren Belle riverboat with a working paddle that locks balls for multiball play. Maverick was the final machine Lyman Sheats provided code on for Data East before moving to Williams, and the final machine released under the Data East name before they changed ownership to SEGA.
