Shark attacks have been reported across Amity Island, and it’s up to the player to put a stop to them and kill the Great White shark responsible for some of the grizzliest attacks on the beachside town. Jaws is Keith Elwin’s long awaited next pinball machine after Godzilla, and features five major shots that flow into each other. The center of the playfield is occupied by a shark cage where captive ball hits deal damage to the boat and help light Shark Encounter modes. Next to the cage is a unique “reel” spinning disc that can be hit with strong shots from the left flipper, to help progress in bounty hunts for some of the lesser shark species. Though Jaws was originally going to eat the ball, this idea was scrapped early in production due to wanting to give the game its own unique identity.
