Released at the end of 1995, Attack from Mars is commonly regarded as one of the very best pinball machines ever made. Taking on a 50s science-fiction aesthetic, the player is challenged to defeat Martian invaders across five countries with shots to the UFO bash toy, before attacking their home planet. Players who succeed in conquering Mars and completing five other objectives over the course of the game will have a chance to rule the universe. Attack from Mars was also the first Williams pinball machine with software led by the legendary Lyman Sheats. Brian Eddy would use aspects of what worked in this game as a basis for many of his later pinball designs.
