The first pinball machine designed by competitive player Keith Elwin originally started as an Archer-themed homebrew before Stern took notice and refined the layout for one of their most popular pinball machines. Based on the music and lore of the band, players encounter different incarnations of the band’s mascot, Eddie, across 5 battle modes and 3 high-scoring multiballs on a layout designed to keep experienced pinball players coming back for more. Iron Maiden is notably one of the only modern Stern pinball machines to lack a center toy – the closest it comes to one is the center bullseye target – and it also doesn’t include the action button ubiquitous to SPIKE 2+ era Stern machines.
